The Route of Wine
The Colours of Bulgaria
in the Past
The Rose Valley
Specialists presume, that the cool nights at end of May and beginning of
June, the bright, scorching sun during day time, the high humidity during
the rose-picking season, as well as the characteristics of the soil itself -
they all perhaps are the reason for the appearance and magical existence of
the Bulgarian phenomenon Roza Damacena Mili in the gorgeous Rose Valley. For
more than 330 years that fragrant flower,
originating from the ancient
Persian lands, occupies the valley between the Balkan range and the Sredna
gora mountain, and determinates for ever this place as the best one in the
world for growing of the oil-producing roses. At present, 75% from the world
rose-oil export for the perfume industry is coming from Bulgaria. The
Kazanlak valley is also known as the Valley of the Thracian kings. There are
about 1800 tumuli in the region, dating back to end of 5th c. B.C. Joining
this tour you will get acquainted with all rituals related to the
rose-picking and rose-production of the famous Bulgarian rose oil, 1 gram of
which you will take and bring back to your country.
