Bulgaria is a unique country that combines rich
folklore traditions and majestic nature. There are well-preserved historical
monuments from ancient times as well as breath taking natural views. With
this tour, we offer you a fantastic experience by touching the best of the
Bulgarian cultural heritage and enjoying the fabulous nature.
Day 1
Arrival at Sofia airport. Welcome walk around |

the centre of Sofia. Dinner and overnight.
Day 2
After breakfast, departure to Rila monastery – the largest and most
beautiful Bulgarian monastery, picturesquely situated in the mountain sides
of Rila. The monastery is UNESCO site, included in the World Heritage List.
After lunch, departure to the town of Bansko. It is a small mountain town
with unique architecture. Dinner and overnight in Bansko.
Day 3
After breakfast, departure to Velingrad. The town is picturesquely situated
in the mountain sides of the Rhodopes mountain and is famous for the healing
thermal springs. After lunch, you will have the chance to enjoy the spa
resort. Dinner and overnight.
Day 4
Breakfast. Departure to the village of Starosel famous for its preserved
ancient Thracian tomb. Departure to the village of Brestovitsa and lunch at
a traditional Bulgarian restaurant with delicious dishes and local wine.
During the lunch you will enjoy a folklore program. Departure Bachkovo
monastery. The monastery is the second largest in Bulgaria. It is stunningly
beautiful with its solid stone buildings and red roof tiles. The monastery
yard is full of greenery that adds up to the wonderful outlook of the site.
Dinner and overnight in Plovdiv.
Day 5
Breakfast. Morning sightseeing tour in Plovdiv. The town is located on seven
hills. In Plovdiv there are numerous preserved historical sights from
different ages – the Roman Amphitheatre from 2nd century, the architectural
reserve “The Old town” with its Renaissance houses and churches. After lunch
departure to the famous town of Kazanlak. You will have the opportunity to
watch and take part in folklore crafts and dances performance. Dinner and
overnight.
Day 6
After breakfast, sightseeing tour of the architectural sites around Kazanlak.
You will discover the Thracian Kazanlak Tomb from the end of 5th and 4th
century B.C. with well-preserved wall paintings. The unique paintings
represent interesting scenes and elucidate about unexpected aspects of the
life of Thracians. The significance of the tomb is vital – it UNESCO site,
included in the World Heritage List. After lunch, departure to the unique
open-air museum of folklore crafts Etara. Narrow cobbled streets, stone
fountains, old houses and the fabulous town clock tower create the
atmosphere of bygone years. In Etara you will see workshops of Bulgarian
masters – cutlers, wood-carvers, fur-dressers, confectioners. The next stop
is the beautiful Sokolsky monastery. It is a small monastery with a nice
garden and a unique stone fountain. Dinner and overnight in the village of
Kmetovtsi.
Day 7
Breakfast. Departure for the village of Bozhentsi. It is famous for its
beautiful and preserved Renaissance houses. Next stop is Dryanovo monastery.
Continue to Veliko Tarnovo - the capital of the Bulgarian Kingdom during the
Middle Ages. The town is located on three historical hills along the shores
of the Iantra river and still keeps the unique atmosphere of ancient times.
Departure for the village of Arbanassi. There are well preserved Renaissance
houses and churches with unique architecture. The calm atmosphere of the
places and the numerous historical monuments will enchant you.You will have
the opportunity to see the famous “Sound and Light Show” from the castle
hill Tsarevets that was the residence of the Bulgarian kings.
Dinner.Overnight in Arbanassi.
Day 8
Breakfast. Departure for the Troian monastery - the third largest in
Bulgaria. High stonewalls and mountain hills surround the monastery complex
and create an atmosphere of serenity. Lunch. Departure to Sofia. Overnight.
Day 9
Morning sightseeing tour of Sofia. Visit of the Byzantine church of St.
Sofia, St. Alexander Nevski Cathedral and the Icon gallery, the Roman Gate
and the ruins of the Roman fortress Serdika, St. George Rotunda.Transfer to
the airport. Departure.
