A Journey in the Past
|
The climate and the healthy way of life of the Bulgarians are the secret of
the long life, the physical strength and the beauty of the nation. The
central part of the country is a place that is famous for its fresh mountain
air, clear waters and centuries old forests. The folklore traditions there
are still alive.
With this tour you will have the opportunity to touch the everyday life of
the Bulgarians.

1 day
Arrival at Sofia airport. Welcome walk around the center of Sofia. Dinner
and overnight.
2 day
Breakfast. Visit of the National History Museum. Lunch at a restaurant in
Vitosha Mountain Park. Departure for the mountain town museum Koprivshtitsa.
The town is famous for its well-preserved renaissance houses with high stone
walls and nice gardens built in local architecture style. Dinner and
overnight.
3 day
Breakfast. Departure for the town of Kazanlak where the famous Bulgarian
roses are grown. You will visit the Thracian Kazanlak Tomb from the end of
the 4th century with well-preserved wall paintings. The unique paintings
represent interesting scenes and elucidate about unexpected aspects of the
life of Thracians. The significance of the tomb is vital - it is included in
the UNESCO world heritage list. Departure for the town of Triavna. Lunch on
the way in a picturesque mountainside. Triavna is a small town that still
keeps the spirit of the Bulgarian Renaissance. The town is famous for its
fresh and healthy mountain air. Dinner and overnight.
4 day
Breakfast and departure for the unique open-air museum of folklore crafts
Etara. Narrow cobbled streets, stone fountains, old houses and the fabulous
town clock tower create the atmosphere of the bygone years. In Etara you
will see workshops of Bulgarian masters – cutlers, wood-carvers,
fur-dressers, confectioners. Lunch and departure for the village
architectural reserve Apriltsi famous for its well-preserved Renaissance
houses with typical local architecture. Departure for the mountain town of
Troian. The town was a famous cultural and crafts center during the
Bulgarian Renaissance. Dinner and overnight in Chiflik.
5 day
After breakfast, you will head for the town Teteven. Thee are lots museum
houses with typical architecture as well as churches. Departure for the
mountain resort Ribaritsa – a picturesque small mountain village surrounded
by meadows. Dinner and overnight.
6 day
Breakfast. Departure for the Monastery of Glozhene – a very picturesque
temple, built over a high hill overlooking the mountain vicinity. Departure
for Sofia. On the way – visit of a cave with interesting rock formations.
Dinner and overnight in Sofia.
7 day
Breakfast. Transfer to the airport. Departure.
