|
Bulgaria is a unique country that combines rich folklore traditions and
majestic nature. There are well-preserved historical monuments from ancient
times as well as breath taking natural views. With this tour, we offer you a
fantastic experience by touching the best of the Bulgarian cultural heritage
and enjoying the fabulous nature.
Day 1
Arrival at Sofia airport. Welcome walk |

around the center of Sofia.
Dinner and overnight.
Day 2
Breakfast. Sofia sightseeing tour, the Roman Gate and the ruins of the Roman
fortress Serdika, St. George Rotunda. After lunch – departure for the town
of Veliko Tarnovo that was the capital of the Bulgarian Kingdom during the
Middle Ages. The town is located on three historical hills along the shores
of the Iantra river and still keeps the unique atmosphere of ancient times.
You will have the opportunity to see the famous “Sound and Light Show” from
the castle hill Tsarevets that was the residence of the Bulgarian kings.
Dinner and overnight in the small village – architectural reserve Arbanassi,
located next to the town of Tarnovo. In Arbanassi, there are well preserved
Renaissance houses and churches with unique architecture.
Day 3
Breakfast. Sightseeing tour around Veliko Tarnovo. Walk around Tsarevets
hill where you will see the well-preserved castles and churches of the
Bulgarian kings. After lunch, you will visit the architectural reserve
village Bozhentsi. Traditional Bulgarian dinner. Overnight in a folklore
style hotel in the village of Kmetovtsi.
Day 4
Breakfast. Sightseeing tour in the unique open-air museum of folklore crafts
Etara. Narrow cobbled streets, stone fountains, old houses and the fabulous
town clock tower create the atmosphere of the bygone years. In Etara you
will see workshops of Bulgarian masters – cutlers, wood-carvers,
fur-dressers, confectioners. Departure for the town of Kazanlak where the
famous Bulgarian roses are grown. After lunch, you will discover the
Thracian Kazanlak Tomb from the end of the 4th century with well-preserved
wall paintings. The unique paintings represent interesting scenes and
elucidate about unexpected aspects of the life of Thracians. The
significance of the tomb is vital - it is included in the UNESCO world
heritage list.
Departure from Kazanlak to Plovdiv. Dinner and overnight in Plovdiv.
Day 5
Breakfast. Morning sightseeing tour in Plovdiv. The town is located over
specific hills. In Plovdiv there are numerous preserved historical sights of
different ages – the Roman Amphitheatre from 2 century, the architectural
reserve The Old town with Renaissance houses and chirches. After lunch you
will head for the nearby Rodopi mountain – you will start by visiting the
Monastery of Bachkovo. It is the second largest in Bulgaria. It is very
beautiful with its solid stone buildings and red roof tiles. The monastery
yard is full of greenery that adds up to the wonderful outlook of the site.
Departure for the famous mountain resort Pamporovo. Dinner and overnight.
Day 6
Breakfast. Departure for the village of Gela surrounded by fantastic
mountain meadows. Next, visit of the village of Shiroka Laka – another
village architectural reserve with Renaissance atmosphere. Lunch and
departure for the town of Sandanski, famous for its mineral springs with
healing water. You will have the chance to enjoy the healthy spa procedures.
Dinner and overnight.
Day 7
Departure from Sandanski to the Rila monastery. It is the largest and the
most beautiful Bulgarian monastery, picturesquely situated in the
mountainsides of Rila. The monastery is included in the UNESCO world
heritage list. After lunch, you head for Sofia. Dinner and overnight.
Day 8
Breakfast. Transfer to the airport. Departure.
